THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Designer collaborates with the sales team to create innovative space and product solutions that meet client business needs. This role handles projects of any complexity, applying expertise in Herman Miller and Knoll products, strong knowledge of ancillary selections, and a solid understanding of interior design principles to bring customer visions to life.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Collaborating with the sales team to define client design requirements and project goals.
  • Developing complete design solutions, including space plans, finish palettes, furniture specifications, and installation drawings.
  • Ensuring all design deliverables meet code compliance and quality standards.
  • Performing field measurements, product inventories, and research for ancillary products.
  • Creating visual presentations and lead client design sessions to secure approvals.
  • Managing multiple projects (workload of $5M-$8M in projects) and priorities, consistently meeting deadlines and financial goals.
  • Providing exceptional client service by anticipating needs and offering creative, business-focused solutions.
  • Applying deep knowledge of Herman Miller/Knoll systems and ancillary products to deliver innovative designs.
  • Coordinating with vendors for product information, pricing, and custom requirements.
  • Reviewing and revising design documentation to reflect client and project changes.
  • Mentoring team members and contribute to continuous improvement in design processes.
  • Communicating design concepts effectively to clients, A+D partners, and internal teams, positioning yourself as a trusted consultant.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 8 years of dealer design experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and CET; strong working knowledge of CAP.
  • Solid understanding of interior design theory and ability to create functional, innovative solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Herman Miller and Knoll systems and seating.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with a consultative approach to clients and partners.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all deliverables.

The Preferred Candidate has:

  • Experience mentoring team members and contributing to process improvements.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, Outlook, and IQ.
  • Broad knowledge of ancillary manufacturers and fabric vendors.
  • Ability to lead live design sessions confidently and creatively.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale projects ($5M–$8M) and balancing design and financial goals.

  • Exhibit strong time management skills, balancing planning, execution, and creative problem-solving.
  • Communicate confidently and consultatively with clients and project partners; adapt communication styles to different audiences.
  • Lead and mentor teammates, helping guide goals and project success.
  • Demonstrate detail orientation and consistently deliver high-quality, accurate work.

  • Proficient level of technical credibility and professional excellence, having depth of judgment, knowledge, and technical skill critical for the position.
  • Knowledge of many of the furniture lines and ancillary vendors. Willing to push the boundaries of standard product application.
