Responsibilities

The Senior MSL is a field-based, scientific, and clinical expert who strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of the program. Key aspects of this role include engaging in peerโ€‘toโ€‘peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals that translates into meaningful insight while serving as a therapeutic expert. In addition, the role may engage in peerโ€‘toโ€‘peer scientific and healthโ€‘economic discussions with relevant healthโ€‘care decision makers and influencers within U.S. public and private healthโ€‘care entities, including managed care organizations, specialty pharmacy providers, pharmaceutical benefit managers, integrated delivery networks, designated centers, and other healthโ€‘care networks.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for appropriate assigned customer.
  • Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
  • Serve as the primary resource to provide support for addressing unsolicited medical questions and other scientific exchange matters.
  • Identify, gather, and document fieldโ€‘generated scientific insights to drive innovative Medical Affairs strategies while complying with industry and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
  • Maintain scientific and clinical knowledge base through continuous learning and awareness of related scientific literature to enable meaningful scientific exchange.
  • Collaborate with fieldโ€‘based Medical colleagues, appropriate Commercial colleagues, and the broader organization to provide scientific expertise and share Medical insights in support of internal and external activities.
  • Leverage knowledge of standards of care and company/investigator-sponsored clinical trials and competitor landscape to facilitate externalโ€‘internal research communication.
  • Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries of Health Care Providers, investigators, healthโ€‘care systems, academic medical centers, and treatment team members integrating scientific data including realโ€‘world evidence into realโ€‘life practice to meet customer needs.
  • Deliver scientific presentations to formulary committees and other key healthcare decision makers, communicating the healthโ€‘economic model and supporting clinical data, and serve as the primary fieldโ€‘based resource to address questions related to these insights.
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in healthโ€‘economic model design and effectively communicate complex concepts in a clear, accessible manner to diverse HCDM audiences.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of costโ€‘effectiveness models and budget impact models to support informed decisionโ€‘making and value discussions.
Requirements

Along with a resultsโ€‘oriented mindset, selfโ€‘assurance, and an engaging manner, the ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • MD, PhD, PharmD, PA, NP, or equivalent degree highly preferred.
  • 2+ years of industry experience as a Medical Science Liaison required.
  • Clinical or related practical experiences in GI/Liver preferred.
  • Strong scientific & clinical acumen.
  • Ability to quickly understand & translate complex scientific data & realize the potential impact of that data on clinical practice & potential research needs.
  • Experience in Managed Care/PBM, HEOR activities, or strong knowledge of P&T committee processes.
  • Ability to travel up to 60%, overnights and weekends may be required, and possess a valid driverโ€™s license to drive to assigned healthcare accounts, unless otherwise specified.
Compensation

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $200,000 to $220,000. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidateโ€™s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include a company car or car allowance and eligibility to earn commissions or bonuses based on company and/or individual performance.
