JOB TITLE/ASSIGNMENT
Position: Reading Resource Teacher
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience.
  • Reading Endorsement COMPLETED and on certificate.
  • Demonstrated reading expertise and teaching in the level of support for consideration.
  • Certification in areas of coaching such as Elementary, Primary, or Secondary (valid state certification)
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the law and School Board find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goal
To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with district philosophy, goals, and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child development especially of the characteristics of children in the age group assigned.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the prescribed reading curriculum. This includes District adopted curriculum as well as supplementary intervention materials.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide effective reading intervention strategies/practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and provide support in a variety of learning styles/methods used in teaching students at various learning levels.
  • Provide oral and written communication as appropriate to students, parents, and teachers.
  • Assist teachers/peers in planning and implementing intervention activities based on student need.
  • Work effectively with peers, teachers, administrators, and literacy/reading coaches to adequately provide prescribed interventions for all identified students.
  • Provide assistance to students by implementing effective instructional strategies.
  • Coordinate and provide support to students and teachers related to district and state testing programs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and literacy/reading coaches to support Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
  • Assist in reviewing and analyzing data to support small group instruction.
  • Conducat/assist in data chats with students based on data collected to support student ownership and academic growth.
  • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the

Superintendent, or the board.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Calendar Months: 10 Month
Salary Schedule: Administrative Support Pay Grade: Base
Salary and Benefits as determined and approved annually by Hendry County School Board.
This position is entirely dependent on grant funding. Employment is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding. In the event that grant funding is reduced or discontinued, this position may be affected, up to and including termination of employment.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies for evaluation of administrative personnel.
