Posting Number PG195133TM Position Number 11ASO3466 Position Type Temporary Essential Job Duties
This internship is sponsored by the Henderson County Gleaton Farm Fund for Summer Interns to support residents of Henderson County who are interested in a career in farming (preference will be given to applicants who are residents of Henderson County).
The position will report to Dr. Jeanine Davis. See newcropsorganics.ces.ncsu.edu/ for more information on her program and the Henderson County Gleaton Farm Fund. The 2025 internship will focus on the research being conducted on growing Chinese medicinal herbs in western North Carolina. The intern will help harvest, clean, process, and package Chinese medicinal herbs in studies on two research stations and three farms in the area. The intern may also gain experience working with some other research projects in the program including truffles, organic tomatoes, woodland botanicals (ginseng, goldenseal, etc.), and hops. Tasks may include weeding, pruning, training, harvesting, grading, data collection, and general assistance with all aspects of the program.
Schedule:
20-40/hrs per week, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, occasional evenings and weekends. Depending on the number of hours worked per week, this position will run for 5 to 10 weeks starting in mid-August.
