Job description

Entry Level Shop Helper/Driver position:
NOTE: This is a structural and architectural steel welding and fabrication shop and is a dirty environment by nature. You are expected to dress for shop environment (work boots, work pants, long sleeves, and all the required PPE). You will be exposed to the elements (rain, cold, heat, etc.) at times and the work is different every day. If that appeals to you this is the job for you!
Essential Skills/Attributes:
  • Must be reliable - being on time and at work every day (reliable transportation is a must)
  • Regular work schedule 7am-3:30pm Mon-Fri - being timely is essential
  • When Overtime is necessary - must be willing/able to work as early as 6am & work Saturday 6am until noon
  • Provide own basic tools - list provided at interview
  • Polite, friendly attitude
  • 'Can do' person who takes initiative but is not afraid to ask for direction, especially during the training period

Primary duties:
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work SAFELY at all times is of utmost importance
  • Sweeping shop, gathering tools, loading trucks, moving material, organizing tools/materials - all these are done safely
  • Forklift experience a plus, but not required
  • Welding skills or familiarity a plus but not required - this is a great foot in the door for someone looking for a career as a welder or fabricator in the future or could be a long term Driver/Shop Helper position for the right candidate
  • Confident, Careful Delivery Driver (over age of 24 to meet insurance requirements) - drive a full-size, 1 ton company flatbed truck to vendors to pick up material, deliver material and tools to the jobsites - previous commercial driving experience a plus! (We require at least 5 years of driving experience to consider you for a driving position)
  • CDL not required, but bonus if you have one!
  • Shop Helper works closely with Shop Foreman, welders, fabricators as assigned - great foot in the door if you want to learn the welding trade.

Requirements (please do not apply for this position if you cannot meet these requirements):
  • Clean driving record - no speeding tickets 20mph or more over the limit, no DUI/DUII - no suspended or hardship licenses for this position; driving record subject to insurance approval prior to hire
  • Must be at least 24 years of age for insurance purposes, and provide 3 year non-employment driving record as part of the application process. Your application will not be complete and considered until we receive the 3 year non-employment driving record from you via email.

Starting Rate of Pay: $17.00-19.00/hr to start -
Review after 90 days of employment to determine payscale moving forward based on daily performance/merit, attendance, attitude and time management.
(Company paid benefits kick in on the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment. These benefits add around $4.00 per hour in company paid benefits to your package - see below)
Benefits: These company paid benefits kick in on the 1st of the month after 60 days of employment, they add rouchly $4.00/hour to your hourly rate of pay. As of 2025, the employee contribution for base insurance is approximately $110.00/month for base plan.
  • Paid weekly - direct deposit available & encouraged
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, AD&D, and Life Insurance benefits begin on the 1st of the month after 60 days of employment
    • Medical, dental, vision coverages include $ 648.68 paid by the company toward premiums - for Employee only - starting 11/1/25 the employee portion ranges from $54 to $227/month
    • AD&D and Life insurance is 100% paid by the company - you get a total of $30,000 in life insurance
  • Review at 90 days determines your correct pay scale for the skills you bring to T-Plus
  • After 90 days you earn:
    • Up to 40 hours a year of company paid sick time - earned as you work
    • 3 paid holidays - Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day
    • Non-paid holidays that we take off depending on workload and timing (for example: the day after Thanksgiving, July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.)
    • Optional other insurances such as short term disability, critical care, LegalShield, etc. are available
  • After 6 months you earn:
    • 401k that has a safe harbor company match of 3% then a ½% match for each % up to 5%
      • Example: Joe puts 5% into his 401k each paycheck, the company contributes 4%
      • Example: Jane puts 3% into her 401k each check, the company puts in 3% too
    • Enrollment is at the 1st of each quarter so you enroll after your qualification date (Jan 1, Apr 1, July 1, Oct 1)
  • After 12 months you earn: One week of paid vacation time - based on the hours you have worked over the past year - typically 40 hours
  • After 3 years you earn: Two weeks of paid vacation, instead of one week - typically 80 hours
