Position Summary
The Senior Key Account Manager will drive growth across key pulp and paper customers by providing consultative sales support, chemical application expertise, and strategic account management. The role is focused on helping paper mills improve product quality, reduce operating costs, and achieve sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of pulp and paper manufacturing accounts.
  • Support chemical programs associated with retention aids, strength additives, sizing technologies, coating applications, deposit control, and process optimization.
  • Collaborate with customer technical teams to identify operational improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct process evaluations and recommend solutions that improve machine efficiency and quality performance.
  • Develop and execute strategic account growth plans.
  • Generate new business opportunities within assigned mills and corporate account structures.
  • Monitor competitive activity and market trends within the pulp and paper industry.
  • Prepare technical reports, business reviews, and value summaries for customers.
  • Support product trials, startup activities, and process improvement projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Paper Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting pulp and paper customers, paper chemicals, water treatment, industrial manufacturing, or technical sales.
  • Understanding of paper manufacturing processes and chemical treatment programs.
  • Proven success building relationships with operations, engineering, and procurement teams.
  • Strong sales aptitude and consultative selling skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and presentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior hands-on production experience in a pulp mill, paper mill, tissue mill, containerboard facility, packaging mill, or converting operation.
  • Experience in manufacturing, operations, production supervision, process engineering, maintenance, reliability, or continuous improvement roles.
  • Familiarity with papermaking processes, stock preparation, wet-end operations, fiber processing, paper machine operations, coating, finishing, and mill utility systems.
  • Experience supporting production objectives including safety, quality, uptime, throughput, yield improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the day-to-day operational challenges faced by pulp and paper manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience working directly with mill personnel to troubleshoot process issues and implement operational improvements.
  • Candidates with prior production or manufacturing experience within the pulp and paper industry will be given strong consideration, as this background provides valuable insight into customer operations and business needs.
