What you can expect in this role  

As a Spectrum intern, you’ll spend the summer working alongside two teams: your respective department and your intern cohort.

Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on internship experiences that include a kickoff conference, professional development sessions and networking activities, webinars, community service, cross-functional projects and final presentations.

This experience is designed to help you explore your interests, expand your network and leave with a deeper understanding of both your field and the impact of our business.

Internship responsibilities may include:

  • NEO Service Engineering provides critical support for the reliability and evolution of the core and backbone network by certifying network hardware and software code prior to production deployment. The team is responsible for network architecture and design, developing and managing Network Deployment Standards, and serving as an escalated resource for complex troubleshooting and outage resolution in the production network. The team also manages the Core and Backbone lab environment for testing, validation, and root cause analysis, supports complex deployment activities across partner teams, and collaborates with vertical partners on innovative network initiatives.
  •  Lab Validation and Testing Support - I will have the intern assist with core/backbone lab setup, execute test plans, document results, and help validate hardware or software code before production deployment. • Standards and Documentation Improvement – I will assign work updating Network Deployment Standards, runbooks, lab guides, topology diagrams, and troubleshooting documentation to improve team efficiency. • Cross-Team Project Support - I will include the intern in collaboration with the deployment teams and vertical partners so they can support rollout planning, testing coordination, and innovation initiative tracking.

  •  Must be a rising senior with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a bachelor’s degree
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
  • Ability to travel locally to Spectrum intern development events and activities throughout the program
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Networking knowledge ( Routing protocols, Switching protocols, TCP/IP), Automation and scripting (Python, Bash, etc), Configuration management and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) - Git environment.
