Pharmacy Data Entry Technician

What You'll Do

As a Pharmacy Data Entry Technician, you'll work under the direction of a licensed pharmacist and help process medication orders while providing excellent service to the communities we support.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Enter and process prescription and medication orders accurately
  • Review incoming orders and patient information for completeness
  • Assist pharmacists with order entry and prescription processing
  • Maintain accurate patient, prescription and pharmacy records
  • Communicate with senior living and long-term care partners regarding medication orders, questions and updates
  • Provide responsive and professional customer service by phone and electronically
  • Assist with preparing, packaging and labeling medications when needed and under pharmacist supervision
  • Help identify missing or unclear information and escalate questions appropriately
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow applicable HIPAA requirements
  • Work closely with pharmacists, technicians and other team members to keep orders moving efficiently
  • Learn and use pharmacy technology and systems provided by Americare

What We're Looking For
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Tennessee Pharmacy Technician registration required
  • PTCB certification required, or equivalent certification as applicable
  • Strong data entry and computer skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to learn new pharmacy systems and processes
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and medical information
  • Pharmacy, healthcare, data entry or customer service experience is helpful
