Job description

Certified Traffic Controller

We are seeking a licensed and certified Traffic Controller to ensure the safety of the public and workers during high-traffic events. You will manage vehicle and pedestrian flow around event venues, using proper traffic control devices and signals in compliance with MUTCD standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Traffic Management: Direct vehicles and pedestrians safely using stop/slow paddles and hand signals.
  • Safety Setup: Install, maintain, and remove cones, barricades, and signage per MUTCD guidelines.
  • Communication: Coordinate with event staff and supervisors to maintain safe traffic flow.
  • Monitoring: Adjust traffic control measures as needed to prevent congestion or hazards.
  • Emergency Response: Report incidents and assist in emergency situations promptly.

Requirements

  • Certification: Valid state-specific traffic control/flagging certification (e.G., ATSSA).
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and work in all weather conditions.
  • Communication Skills: Clear verbal communication for directing traffic and working with teams.
  • Situational Awareness: Strong focus on safety and traffic patterns.
  • Working Conditions Nights and weekends during scheduled events. Outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions. PPE required at all times.
