Job description

Institutional Sales - Hedge Funds & Mutual Funds
Make an impact    |    Own the relationship    |    Grow into a critical part of the team
Cleveland Research Company is an employee-owned, independent equity research firm headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. Since 2006 we’ve built a differentiated, channel-check-based research product that institutional investors rely on to get in front of the themes and inflection points that move the names we cover. Today CRC is ~130 people across 17 research teams impacting over 250 companies – a deliberately focused firm where the work you do is visible and the clients you serve know you by name.
We are committed to a singular focus: delivering the most accurate, reliable, and independent research in the market. If you want to build a career around understanding businesses and earning the trust of sophisticated investors – inside a culture that rewards teamwork and excellence – CRC could be the place for you.
Why this role
This is a relationship and analytical role where you’ll sit shoulder-to-shoulder with senior salespeople and analysts from day one, build real fluency in the companies we cover, and grow into an increasingly trusted point of contact for the investors you serve. It’s a place to build a career, not an entry-level rotation.
You’ll join our sales team supporting – and, over time, helping to own – relationships with the institutional money managers we serve, helping them turn CRC’s differentiated research into better investment decisions.
What you’ll do

  • Strengthen and deepen client relationships – driving usage of CRC’s channel research and becoming a trusted, responsive point of contact for the investors you cover
  • Develop genuine command of the companies and industries we follow, and translate our research into the ideas and trends your clients care about most
  • Master what makes CRC’s channel-check process different – and learn to articulate that edge to demanding institutional clients
  • Help identify and develop prospective clients while growing share with existing ones
  • Take initiative – spotting new ways and new products to serve clients better and bring those ideas forward
  • Travel to and participate in client meetings alongside CRC senior analysts and C-level management teams of the companies we cover
Your first 12 months
  • Complete a structured onboarding program of classroom-style training and hands-on job shadowing across our sales and research teams
  • Earn your FINRA licenses by passing the SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 exams – fully sponsored and supported by CRC
  • Take part in regular analytical discussions with CRC’s senior leadership, including direct exposure to how we form and defend our research views
  • Begin building your own book of client relationships
What we’re looking for
  • We're looking for someone persistent, humble, driven, and passionate – a competitor and a team player who isn't afraid to put themselves out there and fail in front of others.
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree, ideally in business, economics, or a related field
  • 0-3 years of experience (backgrounds from finance, consulting, business development, sales, or another client-facing role are a plus, but we hire for trajectory, not just resume)
  • Real intellectual curiosity about markets, companies, and what actually drives them
  • Strong analytical instincts and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication – you’re comfortable being client-facing early

This position is full-time and on-site at our downtown Cleveland office, where our sales and research teams work side by side.
BENEFITS: Competitive base salary plus performance bonus, fully paid health insurance, 401(k) match, and additional perks
