Job Description

The Hedge Fund Research VP has extensive experienceย inย conducting thorough research and analysis to support theย sourcing, evaluating, and monitoring of hedge fund managers across various strategies within the financial services industry. This role is responsible for analyzing market trends, conducting in-depth due diligence, and providing recommendations to support the firm's investment objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of hedge fund strategies, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with fund managers and industry peers. The hedge fund strategies that will be analyzed will be both systematic and fundamental in nature, and as a result understanding hedge fund trading strategies, styles are a pre-requisite. Having a quantitative or finance or economic background is a requirement.

What you'll do:

  • Source and evaluate hedge fund managers across different strategies, including CTA, Quant, Global Macro, Emerging Markets, Commodities, ย and Risk Premia
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including analyzing performance, strategy, risk management, and quantitative analysis based on the fund returns
  • Stay informed about industry developments, market dynamics, and macroeconomic trends that may impact hedge fund strategies
  • Monitor the performance of existing hedge fund investments on an ongoing basis, including monthly and intra-monthly reviews if required
  • Make timely recommendations regarding portfolio adjustments, redemptions, and resizing based on performance and market dynamics
  • Develop and maintain relationships with hedge fund managers, prime brokers, and other industry participants
  • Proactively identify and assess risks associated with hedge fund investments, including liquidity risk, counterparty risk, and operational risk
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in hedge fund research or related area within the financial services industry
  • Deep knowledge of hedge fund strategies, investment vehicles, and market dynamics across different asset classes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with fund managers, clients, and industry peers

The pay range for this position is $110,000 - $170,000 salary. However, base pay will be determined on an individual basis considering various factors, including location, qualifications, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus and a full range of health and financial benefit offerings, which will be provided in conjunction with an offer of employment.
