XIG Hedge Funds. The XIG hedge fund team is the part of the XIG responsible for sourcing, examining, and investing in leading external hedge fund managers. The team has been in this business since 1969, making it one of the first multi-managers in the industry. As of December 2024, the team managed over $26 billion across portfolios of hedge funds, customized solutions, and advisory relationships. The team covers a wide number of strategies including fundamental equity long short, credit, event driven, macro, CTAs, multi-strategy and quantitative funds. Investors include public pensions, corporate pensions, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, and high net worth individuals. This diverse and broad investor base is beneficial for XIG, both as a source of capital and as a resource for us in the markets where we invest. Our group has sought to establish deep and longstanding relationships with leading institutional hedge fund investors and have benefited from Goldman Sachs' strong relationships with ultra-high net worth individuals. Within hedge funds, our history in managing portfolios dates as far back as 1969, meaning we are among the most experienced hedge fund advisors in the industry.

Alternatives Capital Formation (ACF). ACF manages capital raising and strategy for alternative investments including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, sustainability, secondaries, GP stakes, and hedge funds / liquid alternatives. Within ACF, team members work within product verticals and collaborate across strategies to identify portfolio-wide solutions. They also partner with other teams within ACF, and across CSG, investing teams and wealth management teams. Professional development initiatives provide opportunities to enhance expertise across alternative investment products, and to sharpen market knowledge from industry experts investing across the Firm. This specific ACF role sits with XIG, focused on hedge funds. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 Principal Responsibilities

  • As a Senior Product Specialist, individual would be responsible for helping to drive commercial strategy, capital formation & client engagement.  This involves leading the launch, management of strategy, and ongoing business development for various funds/products across regions and client channels, with a specific focus on our multi-manager separately managed account strategy.  Additional responsibilities include ability to: 
  • Effectively articulate to internal and external stakeholders the investment strategy and the role it plays within an investor's portfolio. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across ACF, Sales and the firm to execute go-to-market strategies, define target investor base(s), and track fundraise progress towards stated goals / KPIs
  • Lead development of marketing content and define strategic direction 
  • Lead and direct client due diligence processes, from initial engagement to legal documentation and negotiations; involves close collaboration with legal colleagues to drive terms and manage negotiations
  • Frequent client engagement / meetings, and potential for business travel.
  • As a senior member of the team, individual would work closely with junior members of the team and would be expected to help guide / direct response to various client inquiries, including due diligence requests, participation in RFPs, performance and data analyses, ongoing reporting, and requests for portfolio updates, amongst other ad hoc client requests and projects 
  • Respond to questions internally from senior management and sales channels  

Qualifications

  • At least 7+ years in a similar or related role
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in capital formation and investor relations
  • Strong preference for experience and familiarity with hedge fund separately managed accounts and / or less correlated strategies
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Strong relationship building skills, for use with both clients and internal stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead global campaigns and manage existing investor relations 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to help direct / manage production of a high volume of quality work across team within tight timeframes, often including multiple simultaneous projects
  • Attention to detail-proven experience of delivering high levels of accuracy
  • Experience and familiarity with hedge fund separately managed accounts
  • Willingness and desire to train and mentor junior members of team, as well as contribute to and foster a positive and motivating team environment 
  • Candidate must be a team player and self-motivated, demonstrating a willingness to take on more responsibility over time

Salary Range 
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125000-$290000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
