Job description

The Treasury Analyst, Risk Control Group, supports two core Treasury functions: the Central Hedge Desk (CHD) and Customer Risk Management (CRM). The role operates within a rotational structure, providing cross-functional experience while building expertise in commodity risk management, derivatives reporting, position reconciliation, and hedging operations. While the analyst may serve as the primary resource and subject matter expert for one of these areas, the role maintains active responsibilities across both, developing the proficiency to independently support either function through the rotation or as business needs evolve. This structure ensures effective coverage, business continuity, and risk management support across the organization.

ResponsibilitiesCentral Hedgedesk

The treasury analyst is responsible for executing futures trades to mitigate the company’s daily exposure resulting from purchase and sale contracts, inventory fluctuations, and other bona-fide commercial activity. Partners with Trading, Sales, Risk, Finance teams, and external trading counterparties to manage hedge positions, support compliance requirements, maintain effective controls, and ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation processes. Prior to market opening, reconcile the daily slate long/short position. After trading hours, reconcile top day trades and physical contract activity. Ensure that all physical contracts are accurately entered into the ERP by the Trading and Sales teams. Collaborate with the Sales, Risk and Finance Teams regarding daily slate long/short commodity position analysis. Be able to explain variances and fluctuations in the slate position. Work with the Risk Team to execute intra-market spreads, inter-commodity spreads, futures rolls, EFPs, EFRs, etc.

Customer Risk Management

The treasury analyst serves as the primary Finance support for the Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) through Ardent Mills Solutions, partnering with the Customer Risk Director, Sales, and the Risk Control Group of Ardent Mills. Responsibilities include financial reporting of derivatives, daily position reconciliation, weekly customer communication, period-end close processes, monitoring of risk controls, and assisting with internal and external derivative audits. Implement and maintain adequate and effective internal controls across the business processes including managing NFA, CTA, CME, MGEX, CFTC regulations, Board approved limits, accounting policies and procedures including effective metrics to track progress, trends, etc. Oversee and ensure the accuracy of Customer Risk Management month-end activities and their impact to business financial statements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Serve as primary support in areas of responsibility for the company’s regulatory compliance in connection with Board established limits, company’s policies and external regulatory framework. Identify, support and lead continuous improvement opportunities across areas of responsibility. Actively collaborate with others on the team especially those rotating onto areas of shared responsibilities to ensure appropriate knowledge and skills transfer on a day-to-day basis.
