Summary:

We are seeking a Professional with technical expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater management to join our growing civil engineering consulting team. This position is well suited for a detail-oriented professional capable of leading watershed assessments, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, stormwater infrastructure design, and drainage system evaluation for municipal, transportation, and land development projects. The successful candidate will contribute to project planning, design development, permitting, and construction-phase services while coordinating with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies. This is an in-person position in our Burlington, Wisconsin location. The position is part of the Kapur municipal team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform hydrologic analyses, watershed delineations, runoff calculations, and peak flow evaluations for a variety of municipal, transportation, and site development projects.
  • Prepare drainage plans and design storm sewer systems, culvert layouts, detention and retention facilities, open channel improvements, and green infrastructure practices.
  • Develop and apply hydraulic and hydrologic models using HEC-RAS, HY-8, SWMM, HydroCAD, WinSLAMM or comparable software to evaluate conveyance capacity, tailwater conditions, and floodplain impacts.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, drainage reports, technical memoranda, and permitting submittals in support of local, state, and federal agency review.
  • Coordinate design tasks, technical deliverables, and project schedules across multidisciplinary teams to maintain scope, quality, and budget objectives.
  • Participate in client and agency meetings, provide technical recommendations, and address plan review comments during design development and permitting.
  • Apply applicable engineering standards, hydrologic and hydraulic methodologies, and Kapur’s QA/QC procedures to all analyses, plans, and deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required; emphasis or coursework in water resources, hydrology, hydraulics, or stormwater engineering preferred.
  • 2–6 years of relevant experience in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, stormwater management, drainage design, or related civil engineering applications.
  • Proficiency with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, HY-8, HydroCAD, ArcGIS Pro, or similar modeling and geospatial analysis platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare engineering calculations, drainage reports, technical memoranda, plan sets, and regulatory permitting submittals.
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal permitting requirements and applicable stormwater, drainage, and floodplain regulations.
  • Ability to manage concurrent assignments, coordinate technical deliverables, and maintain project schedules across multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
