Description
The Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite applications for an adjunct position in European Studies directed within the Political Science Department. The European Studies Program welcomes applicants with competencies in European thought and rabbinic literature.
The European Studies Program is an interdisciplinary program promoting greater understanding of Europe from both the humanities and social sciences. The Office of the Provost can provide specific information about student enrollment with advanced notice.
The position requires the teaching of an undergraduate course entitled Ancient Texts, European Minds: Interpretations of the Hebrew Bible Through the Ages. This course surveys European biblical commentators from antiquity to the modern era.
The Adjunct Position in European Studies responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Teach Ancient Texts, European Minds: Interpretations of the Hebrew Bible Through the Ages, for undergraduates (3 hours per week)
  • Additional student contact of a minimum of one hour per week for student assistance

Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Hebrew Bible and rabbinic literature required.
  • Demonstrated record of teaching.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.

Salary/Salary Range
$1,458-$1,585 per credit hour

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.
