Job Description
Job Summary: As an H-E-B Mid-Mile Route Driver, you will drive an H-E-B vehicle (such as delivery van, box truck, etc.) to deliver and unload orders to stores, either from Warehouse-to-Store, Warehouse-to-eFC, and/or Store-to-Store. You'll make sure that merchandise arrives to the store in a safe and timely manner so that our stores can receive their orders accurately, damage-free, and on time. You'll also help monitor the cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Driving:

  • Gathers appropriate paperwork for deliveries; uses manifest to ensure the most efficient delivery route and schedule
  • Completes / documents inspection of vehicle per requirements (e.g., pre- / post-trip)
  • Sort, palletize, and load product at the warehouse and load product into your vehicle
  • Responsible for content, condition, and securing of cargo / product within vehicle for delivery
  • Delivers product across store locations accurately, safely, and on time
  • Unloads / loads product at store locations
  • Adheres to traffic / safety laws and H-E-B policies
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicle, and reports maintenance problems
  • Returns reusable items
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Excellent driving record - Required
  • No suspended or revoked driver's licenses, permits, or privileges in any state/county (mandatory) - Required
  • No moving violations or preventable accidents in the past 3 (three) years - Required
  • No DWI, DUI, or related convictions - Required
  • No felony convictions - Required
  • Pass a background screening and Motor Vehicle record screening - Required
  • Records (MVR) check (at time of entry and on a periodic basis) - Required
  • Ability to read and follow a road map - Required
  • Ability to work without direct supervision - Required
  • Ability to meet company and regulatory driving record requirements - Required

  • Education:
  • HS Diploma or GED or equivalent - Preferred

  • Licenses/Certifications:

  • Load / unload delivery vehicles
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 55 lbs.
  • Work in varying weather and traffic conditions; work while exposed to hot, wet, cold, and weather conditions
