Job description

McCallum Rock Drilling (MRD) is a rock drilling and blasting contractor based out of Chehalis, WA, that has been in business since 1988. MRD operates in commercial quarries, timberlands and construction sites throughout the Western US.
MRD is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator to operate out of our Kitsap Quarry mine site, which is located in Bremerton, Washington. The ideal candidate will have prior construction and/or heavy equipment operating experience (at least a few years of operating). He or she will be responsible for operating large machinery such as loaders, excavators, haul trucks, crushers, and possibly even rock drills on a daily basis. The applicant must live within 30 minutes of Kitsap Quarry and must have a clean driving record.
Minimum responsibilities include:
  • Safely follows all MRD policies and procedures and complies with all MSHA regulations
  • Safely and productively operating heavy machinery such as haul trucks, excavators, loaders, crushers, and/or rock drills
  • Conducting routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal functionality and minimal downtime
  • Perform general labor duties as required
  • Ability to perform daily pre-and-post equipment inspections and document any malfunctions or abnormalities
  • Maintain safe and clean equipment, vehicles, and work environment
  • Assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required

Minimum skills and qualifications include:
  • Valid driver's license with proof of insurance
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test
  • Clean driving record (no more than 3 moving violations within last 3 years)
  • Clean background
  • Reliable transportation to the quarry every day
  • Applicant must have a great attitude and strong work ethic
  • Strong communication skills
  • Mechanical background desired
  • At least 3-5+ years heavy equipment operating experience desired
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
  • Represent MRD and Kitsap Quarry with a professional and courteous attitude
