About the job
As a key member of Alfa Laval's Energy Division Sales Engineering Team, the Sales Engineer serves as the technical and commercial liaison between customers, channel partners, sales teams, and internal stakeholders. This role is responsible for evaluating customer applications, providing technical guidance, developing engineered solutions, and supporting the successful quotation and execution of heat transfer equipment opportunities across a variety of industrial markets.
You will play a critical role in helping customers solve complex thermal and process challenges by recommending the right heat transfer solutions while supporting business growth and customer satisfaction. Working closely with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Product Management teams, you will provide technical expertise, champion Alfa Laval's heat transfer portfolio, and help drive successful outcomes throughout the sales cycle.
This is a hybrid role based in Richmond, VA and approximately 10-15% travel. Relocation assistance available.

As a part of the team, you will:
  • Provide technical and commercial support to customers, distributors, and sales channels.
  • Evaluate customer applications and recommend appropriate heat transfer solutions.
  • Prepare quotations and support proposal development.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Customer Service, and Sales teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Support product launches and technical training initiatives.
  • Maintain pipeline activity within OneCRM and participate in regular opportunity reviews.
  • Serve as a product champion for Alfa Laval's heat transfer technologies.
  • Communicate market trends and customer feedback to internal stakeholders.

What you know:
You have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, and:
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering, applications, or technical sales experience.
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Experience evaluating technical solutions and solving customer problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Heat exchanger experience.
  • Industrial equipment, pumps, cooling towers, or thermal systems experience.
  • Technical sales or application engineering background.
  • Experience supporting distributors and channel partners.
  • Value-based selling experience
