PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Flexo Press Operator I is an entry-level position designed to develop the skills necessary for operating and maintaining flexographic printing presses. Working under the guidance of senior operators, this role focuses on assisting with press setup, monitoring production, performing routine quality checks, and maintaining a safe and organized work area. The Operator I builds a strong foundation in press operations while supporting the team in achieving production and quality goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
• Follow all safety guidelines and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist with setting up flexographic printing presses, including loading substrates (think various forms of paper), inks, and other materials as directed by senior operators.
• Monitor press operation during production runs to maintain consistent quality and report any issues to the lead operator or supervisor.
• Perform basic quality checks (registration, color, and print clarity) using established procedures and tools to ensure optimal quality.
• Support the press crew in keeping production schedules by following instructions and adjusting to workflow needs. Keep the press area clean and organized, including proper handling and storage of inks, plates, and substrates.
• Participate in training to learn press functions, assist with running the press, perform basic maintenance, and develop troubleshooting skills as part of the pathway to becoming a Press Operator II.
• Communicate effectively with press assistants, operators, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and quick resolution of issues.
• Record basic production data (e.g., counts, downtime, materials used) as instructed.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Safety Awareness - Understanding basic workplace safety practices and following all company safety policies.
• Mechanical Aptitude - Basic knowledge of machine operations and willingness to learn press functions and troubleshooting.
• Attention to Detail - Ability to follow instructions accurately and perform simple quality checks for registration, color, and clarity.
• Communication Skills - Clear verbal and written communication to coordinate with press team members and supervisors.
• Teamwork - Willingness to work with Operators and Leads to support production goals.

• Learning Mindset - Desire and ability to expand technical knowledge with the goal of advancing to Flexographic Press Operator II.
EDUCATION
Min/Preferred: High School or GED
WORKING CONDITIONS
Primary Working Conditions Manufacturing Environment: Exposure to machinery, powered industrial vehicles, variable temperature.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
-Standard Shift Length: 8 hours
-Ability to Lift/Push/Pull: Up to 50 lbs
-Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
PE is required, which includes safety shoes, eye protection and hearing protection
-Other Physical Requirements:
Significant walking and standing; Incidental Climbing
Shifts:
-3rd Shift (Monday - Friday) (11:45 PM - 7:00 AM)
