Job description

We're looking for an experienced IT Procurement & Contracts Specialist to help manage the procurement of technology products, services, and technical resources. If you enjoy working with vendors, managing contracts, and guiding IT procurement projects from start to finish, this could be a great opportunity.


In this role, you'll work closely with internal stakeholders, procurement teams, and technology partners to ensure purchasing activities are completed efficiently and in compliance with state procurement guidelines.


What You'll Do

  • Manage IT procurement and contract activities from planning through execution.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to keep procurement projects on track.
  • Lead the acquisition of technology products, software, services, and technical staffing needs.
  • Develop and manage Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and other competitive solicitations.
  • Review and evaluate proposals, bids, and vendor responses.
  • Analyze solutions and make recommendations based on business and technical requirements.
  • Partner with IT leadership to support technology initiatives and procurement strategies.
  • Monitor contract timelines and ensure procurement activities are completed on schedule.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and vendor partners.
  • Help ensure procurement processes comply with applicable state laws and IT procurement policies.
  • What We're Looking For
  • Experience managing IT procurement, purchasing, or contract administration.
  • Strong understanding of the RFP process and competitive procurement practices.
  • Experience reviewing vendor proposals and negotiating contracts.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with technology vendors and IT-related purchases.


Preferred Qualifications

Certified Mississippi Purchasing Agent (CMPA) certification.

Experience working with state government procurement processes or public sector purchasing.

Familiarity with IT procurement guidelines and contract management best practices.
