Job description

Position Overview

This role involves conducting diagnostic examinations on patients utilizing ultrasound technology to assess tissues and bodily structures, ensuring high-quality images are available for analysis. The sole registration requirement for this position is to be a registered sonographer relevant to the specific department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and calibrate all necessary equipment, manually adjusting transducers to carry out examinations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and execute quality control measures effectively.
  • Conduct both routine and advanced studies while assisting in various imaging procedures.
  • Identify important structures, artifacts, pathologies, and limitations of the equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and report any potential issues or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel. Lock or tag out equipment when necessary.
  • Submit all high-quality images and documentation to PACS promptly, ensuring correct labeling and patient data/history.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other spaces.
  • Comply with all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Maintain a state of alertness and operate safely at all times.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
QualificationsEducation
  • Completion of an accredited Sonography program.
Experience
  • No prior experience is necessary.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
  • Regularly engage in oral communication, utilizing hearing and speech.
  • Frequently distinguish body sounds and detect alarms or equipment malfunctions through hearing.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
  • Regularly assist in lifting and moving patients.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and data entry on a keyboard.

  • Occasionally use vision to identify and differentiate colors.
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, squat, twist, and perform repetitive movements with feet/legs and hands/arms.
