Job description

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
The Senior Propulsion & Mechanical Systems Integration Engineer serves as the senior technical subject matter expert supporting airworthiness, T2 modification integration, and sustainment engineering for propulsion and aircraft mechanical systems across multiple military aircraft platforms. This position provides independent technical leadership in reviewing, integrating, assessing, and providing engineering recommendations for contractor-developed propulsion and mechanical system modifications while supporting Government Chief Engineers, Technical Authorities, and Airworthiness Review Boards.
Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:
  • Lead technical reviews of propulsion and mechanical system modifications supporting T2 engineering packages and sustainment activities.
  • Evaluate engine bleed-air, cooling, thermal management, vibration, and operability impacts associated with aircraft modifications.
  • Review mechanical interfaces including hydraulics, landing gear, brakes, actuators, fuel systems, Environmental Control Systems (ECS), pneumatic systems, and auxiliary power systems.
  • Assess propulsion integration impacts on aircraft performance, operating limitations, engine margins, maintainability, reliability, and supportability.
  • Review contractor-developed engineering analyses, CAD models, installation drawings, substantiation reports, interface definitions, and test plans.
  • Perform limited engineering analyses supporting integration decisions and technical risk assessments.
  • Support propulsion-related hazard analyses including FHA, FMEA, SSA, and technical risk mitigation activities.
  • Coordinate with OEM technical data, engineering authorities, and Government stakeholders to ensure technically sound integration decisions.
  • Support ground testing, engine testing, developmental test, operational test, and flight test planning as required.
  • Participate in Technical Review Boards, Configuration Control Boards, Flight Readiness Reviews, and Airworthiness Review Boards.
  • Coordinate closely with structures, systems engineering, avionics, flight controls, systems safety, and configuration management engineers.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, executive briefings, engineering recommendations, and peer-review comments.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide senior technical leadership within the Airworthiness organization.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 14 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of 10 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum of eight years of related engineering experience are required for this position.
In addition, an Engineer V must possess the following qualifications:
  • Well-established, substantial, professional reputation in one or more of the principal technical disciplines of the company
  • Demonstrated ability to direct senior technical personnel in project assignments involving research, development, integration, and sustainment of complex systems or processes
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
  • Superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers and in writing reports and proposals
  • Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines

SALARY
The expected salary range for this position is $135,000.00 to $250,000.00 annually.

JT4 considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market/business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves work typical of a multidisciplinary aircraft systems engineering and integration environment supporting Government airworthiness activities. The majority of work is performed in an engineering office using technical data packages, engineering analyses, CAD drawings, digital engineering tools, systems models, and Government technical data repositories. Routine travel to remote Company or Government location may be required in support of aircraft modifications, on flight lines, at contractor locations, developmental test organizations, in support of technical interchange meetings and design reviews. Occasional aircraft inspections, integration activities, laboratory testing, and flight test support may be required.
