They conduct functional, performance, security, and compliance testing to meet industry standards like HIPAA and FDA guidelines. The role requires knowledge of healthcare workflows, testing methodologies, and automation tools to ensure software reliability and patient safety.

What are common challenges faced in healthcare software testing roles?

Healthcare software testers often encounter unique challenges like verifying compliance with strict industry regulations (such as HIPAA or FDA guidelines), ensuring high data accuracy, and validating complex integrations with medical devices or health data platforms. Testers must also adapt to evolving standards and address the critical need for patient safety and data privacy throughout the software development lifecycle. Collaborating closely with developers, business analysts, and healthcare professionals helps ensure software meets real-world clinical requirements. Overcoming these challenges can be rewarding, as it directly supports safer, more effective healthcare solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in healthcare software testing, and why are they important?

To thrive in Healthcare Software Testing, a strong understanding of software QA methodologies, test case development, and healthcare industry regulations (such as HIPAA) is essential, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with automated testing tools (like Selenium or QTP), bug tracking systems, and certifications such as ISTQB or CSTE are highly valuable. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication are key soft skills that set candidates apart. These skills ensure accurate, regulatory-compliant software testing that safeguards patient data and supports the delivery of reliable healthcare solutions.

Job description

At CyberMaxx, we believe it is our duty to defend against those committed to wide-scale societal disruption through cyberattacks.
We help our customers reduce risk by tightly integrating MDR with offensive security, threat hunting, security research, and digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) to continually adapt to new and evolving threats. Our modern MDR (Managed Detection & Response) approach is tailored to the unique characteristics and risk factors of each customer, enabling us to take full ownership of the response process and, optionally, manage key security controls. By thinking like an adversary and defending like a guardian, we help our customers stay a step ahead of threat actors.
At CyberMaxx, we value humility, transparency, intellectual curiosity, and a customer first approach.
As a Software Testing Engineer you will lead quality assurance on a wide spectrum of custom toolsets we develop; ranging from adaptive internal web applications to public facing responsive web and native mobile applications. To facilitate this, you will be responsible for writing test cases in Python, selecting and managing appropriate testing software, reporting and documenting bugs in Jira, and managing the lifecycle of those bugs within a scrum environment.
As a cybersecurity company, the security of our own toolsets is imperative. In addition to visual and behavioral tests, we expect experience in security testing; such as injection violations, CSRF / XSS attacks, and credential mismanagement. Given the volume of toolsets we work on, automated testing will also be crucial to ensuring QA does not become a bottleneck. We utilize Python Django REST Framework for much of our codebase, and an ability to write API unit tests directly in Django will be a strong plus.
As an innovative company, we pride ourselves in developing in-house solutions, bespoke to our needs. This opens the door to greater flexibility and creativity, but also to greater responsibility and vulnerability. Our ideal candidate is someone who takes genuine pride in their work and appreciates being able to shape ideas to their vision.
What You Will Do:
  • Perform visual, behavioral, and security QA analysis on web desktop, mobile, and native mobile applications
  • Utilize a mixture of custom test cases and readily available testing toolsets to facilitate all layers of testing from Unit to User Acceptance
  • Document findings as bug reports in Jira for development team to resolve
  • Validate and document issues reported by end users as needed
  • Manage the lifecycle of reported issues within a scrum environment
  • Work with development team and other department leads to resolve reported issues
  • Write test-cases in Python for both manual and automated testing
  • Complete and review documentation for projects or any operational effort
  • Provide system performance monitoring and troubleshooting, including database tuning in MySQL
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
  • Other activities as assigned

What We Are Looking For:
  • 3+ years professional experience performing QA duties, with at least 2 years specifically working with software development
  • Completion of a Bachelor's or higher post-graduate degree, and 3+ years industry experience, or equivalent additional industry experience.
  • Proficiency with RESTful APIs and REST API testing
  • Experience with automated testing tools and approaches.
  • Experience with APIDog is a plus
  • Experience with security testing methodologies
  • Experience with AI-based review and remediation techniques
  • Cybersecurityindustry experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and teamwork abilities, and a proactive approach to security

Some Of What We Offer
  • Flexible Paid Time Off
  • 401k with a company match
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage
  • Voluntary Short Term and Long-Term Disability
  • Employee Assistance Program with Mental Health Supplement
  • Voluntary Basic, Accidental, and other ancillary life insurance
  • Health Savings Account Contribution (with selection of a HDHP)
  • 10 annual, paid holidays
