Responsibilities

State Farm is seeking Software Engineers and Lead Software Engineers for our Platform Engineering Team to help engineering teams build and operate resilient, enterprise-grade cloud applications—with greater ease, speed, and cost efficiency.

Our Platform Engineering team delivers automated platform capabilities that simplify complex cloud workflows and provide data-driven insight into cost, risk, and compliance while scaling Engineering efforts across the organization. We’re re-thinking and building transparency and control into the way teams design, ship, and run systems. As we evolve, we’re accelerating intelligent automation and AI-powered capabilities—not just inside the platform, but also across internal workflows—to improve outcomes and streamline delivery.

In this AWS-focused role, you’ll help shape the future of enterprise cloud platform engineering by owning architecture and implementation of advanced new patterns in our platform. You’ll partner with engineering and support teams to enable secure, scalable public cloud adoption, and you’ll turn platform needs into practical solutions that production engineering teams can rely on.

You’ll build using Terraform, Python, and Go, and apply AI tooling and intelligent automation to:

  • improve infrastructure and operations,
  • increase engineering throughput,
  • deliver scalable, reliable platform capabilities aligned to business goals.

Qualifications

You’ll be a strong fit if you have:

  • Proven cloud software engineering experience delivering value at scale (AWS preferred; Azure and GCP considered)
  • A degree in computer science, software or infrastructure engineering, or related fields
  • Hands-on expertise with cloud platform engineeringinfrastructure, and information security
  • Strong working knowledge of Terraform / Open TofuPython, and Go
  • Experience building or integrating AI tooling / automation into engineering workflows
  • Solid understanding of industry cloud concepts and services

Desired (not all required):

  • Experience designing and delivering cloud platform capabilities (AWS / GCP / Azure)
  • Proficiency with modern software development practices and tooling
  • A track record of solving hard problems with clear, measurable outcomes
  • Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to influence partners
  • Strong critical thinking and sound engineering judgment
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative agile environment
  • Comfort adapting quickly in a changing environment
  • Experience with continuous integration (CI) and automated testing practices

Our Benefits

Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

  • Potential starting salary range: $105,000 - $150,000
    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
    • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary

At State Farm, we offer more than just a paycheck. Check out our suite of benefits designed to give you the flexibility you need to take care of you and your family!

  • Get Paid! On top of our competitive pay, you are eligible for an annual raise and bonus.
  • Stay Well! Focus on you and your family’s health with our robust health and wellbeing programs. All medical plans provide 100% coverage for in-network preventative care, AND you and your family have access to vision, dental, telemedicine, 24/7 mental health professionals, and much more!
  • Develop and Grow! Take advantage of educational benefits like industry leading training programs, top-notch tuition assistance programs, employee resource groups, and mentoring.

With the opportunity to initially earn up to 20 days annually plus parental leave, paid holidays, celebration day, life leave (40 hours/year), bereavement leave, and community service/education support days, there will be plenty of time for you!
  • Give Back! We offer several ways to give back through our Matching Gift Program, Good Neighbor Grant Program, and the Employee Assistance Fund.
