You will oversee all field operations, mentor Superintendents and field teams, coordinate construction activities within active healthcare environments, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Ajax's high standards of quality.
The Senior Superintendent reports directly to the General Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide overall field leadership to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design intent, budget, schedule, quality standards, and contractual requirements.

  • Partner with Project Management to develop project procedures, site logistics plans, schedules, quality control programs, and field documentation.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications, provide technical guidance, resolve field issues, and recommend construction methods, sequencing, and equipment to improve project execution.
  • Monitor labor productivity, subcontractor performance, equipment utilization, material management, and overall project performance to ensure contractual commitments are achieved.
  • Lead quality assurance and quality control efforts by proactively identifying deficiencies, coordinating corrective actions, and ensuring work meets Ajax's standards and owner expectations.
  • Review and approve field-related transactions, including purchase requisitions, work authorizations, and field change requests, as applicable.
  • Perform or oversee building layout and field engineering activities.
  • Promote an uncompromising safety culture by enforcing Ajax safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific healthcare safety standards. Work closely with Safety leadership to conduct planning, inspections, training, and corrective actions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, hospital representatives, design professionals, and trade partners while serving as Ajax's primary field leader throughout project execution.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10-15+ years of progressive field supervisory experience in commercial construction.
  • Extensive experience leading complex healthcare construction projects, including occupied hospitals, surgical facilities, medical office buildings, and critical care environments.
  • Demonstrated success managing large, multi-phase healthcare renovations while maintaining active hospital operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of AHCA requirements, healthcare construction regulations, Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA), Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), and Joint Commission standards.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare building systems, MEP coordination, phased construction, utility shutdown planning, and commissioning.
  • Proven ability to lead large field teams and mentor developing superintendents.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
