Job description

As a member of MITRE’s Center for Transforming Health, the Healthcare Policy Analyst will provide strategic support to the Department of Health and Human Services and other Federal Civilian Agencies as needed. This position requires significant subject matter expertise in health policy (discerning and identifying implications of policy or regulatory choices, projected outcomes, sector impacts, etc.), public health, health information technology, privacy, and other health-related government initiatives.
Position will require 2 to 3 days at a minimum working at the Woodlawn, MD facility.
Key Functions:
• Providing health care policy thought leadership to MITRE's health care FFRDC
• Assisting CMS (and other federal health agencies) with policy analysis in support of federal health program implementations.
• Overseeing and developing technical products such as research papers, briefing papers, and recommendations for program implementation.
• Working closely with agency staff to provide regulatory advice in support of health program design, implementation and evaluation, including advice to high-ranking members of federal healthcare agencies
• Analyzing HHS policies, processes and health care strategies to facilitate effective MITRE support to HHS
Location: 
McLean, VA or Baltimore (Woodlawn), MD
Preferred Qualifications:
• 10 years’ experience in the area of health policy at the federal, state or local level, developing, designing and implementing healthcare policies and programs, and providing healthcare thought leadership
• Expert in, and current working experience working with, policies resulting from the Affordability Care Act (ACA) and other recent legislative actions in the healthcare arena
• A terminal degree (JD, MD, PhD) or advanced degree in public policy or health sciences field
Minimum Education: 
BS and 3 years related experience.
This position will require overnight travel up to 10 % of the time as well as some local travel.
