What is a healthcare laundry worker?

A healthcare laundry worker is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and handling linens, uniforms, and other textiles used in hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities. Their job ensures that all linens are free from contaminants and meet strict hygiene standards to prevent the spread of infections. Healthcare laundry workers often operate industrial washing machines, sort laundry, and follow protocols for handling soiled or biohazardous materials. This role is essential for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a healthcare laundry professional?

To thrive as a Healthcare Laundry professional, you need knowledge of infection control, safe handling of soiled linens, and operational understanding of industrial laundry equipment, usually acquired through on-the-job training or relevant experience.
