What is a healthcare intern?

Healthcare interns are students or recent graduates who work in healthcare settings to gain practical experience and exposure to the medical field. They typically assist healthcare professionals with various tasks, such as patient care, administrative duties, and research projects. Internships help participants develop essential skills, build professional networks, and better understand potential career paths within healthcare. Most healthcare internships are temporary and may be unpaid or paid, depending on the organization and program.

What does a healthcare intern do?

As a Healthcare Intern, you can expect to assist with a variety of tasks such as conducting research, supporting patient care teams, managing data entry, and observing clinical procedures under supervision. Many internships also involve participating in meetings, shadowing healthcare professionals, and helping with administrative duties. This hands-on exposure provides valuable insight into daily operations and helps interns build essential skills for a future career in healthcare.
