Job description

Physician-General Surgeon

State of Franklin Healthcare Associates is a physician-led and team member-owned multi-specialty care group headquartered in Johnson City, TN with locations in the upper East Tennessee & Southwest Virginia region. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of our patients and our team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Obtain health history and perform physical examinations
  • Request/Evaluate lab tests
  • Diagnosis, direct treatment, and instruct staff in implementing care
  • Prescribe medication in accordance with state statutes and professional practice guidelines
  • Arrange referrals for services not offered within the practice
  • Educate patients and families on medication and treatment instructions
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed
  • Supervise resident physicians
  • Patient procedures relevant to protocols and procedures
  • Maintain Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours

Requirements:

The Physician must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree (M.D) or a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O), have completed residency and be Board Eligible or Board Certified with a current State of TN Medical License, DEA certificate, malpractice insurability and authority to provide medical services on behalf of all governmental and private insurers, health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, self-insured employers, hospitals and any other organizations with which the group contracts to provide health care services. Hospital call is required.
