Job description

Lifekind Health is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant in our San Jacinto clinic to supply administrative and clinical services in Medical Team Units led by MD/APP. Facilitate efficient documentation and workflow as part of back-office operations, helping to ensure top-notch patient care.

Schedule: Full-time, 5 days per week. Clinics are open 7 days a week, 8:00 am - 7:00 pm. Availability to work Saturday and/or Sunday is required.


About the position:

  • Prepare patient charts prior to medical and behavioral encounters (upload orders, referrals, imaging, etc.)
  • Collect and document vital signs, urine drug screen, and initial patient screening information (Temperature, COVID forms, etc.)
  • Document medical and behavioral encounters in health record management systems (prep, complete patient record with Dx, Hx, care plan, CC/HPI, billing info, etc.)
  • Administer and process consent forms and other patient questionnaires as needed
  • Document injection consents, prep and assist with injections
  • Provide patient support in the clinic including schedule appointments, enter authorization dates, appointment confirmation calls, medical records requests and follow up on appeals and/or denials
  • Assist medical and behavioral provider in writing and transferring orders
  • Process Imaging orders as per provider request (complete forms, send tasks & document), transfer imaging from partner portals into health record management systems
  • Administer urine drug screen and record results. Assist medical provider with UDS interpretation and process UDS confirmation as necessary
  • Obtain and assist medical provider in reviewing the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) report
  • Process referrals, as ordered, to other external providers and community health resources
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements
  • Respond to patient phone calls, texts, & voicemails from Medical Team Unit phone. Make calls as per assigned duties (pharmacy, appointment confirmation, etc.)
  • Process lab orders (complete forms, send tasks & document)
  • Complete Medical Clearances as needed for patient procedures
  • Update and maintain an Excel Spreadsheet to ensure patients who meet the requirements for Advanced Procedures are prepared for their procedure (Psych & Cardio clearance, medical records, imaging, etc.)
  • Scheduling of Interventional Pain procedures at the Lifekind Surgical Center (Procedure, Post Op, Follow Up, etc.)

  • Medical Assistant diploma required, state certification preferred
  • 4+ years of related experience preferred
  • Medical Scribe experience required or willingness to learn
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
