Job description

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES             

Under the direction of the Director/Executive Director, for Health Information Management Services. Manages the daily activities, general supervision and coordination of the medical record processing areas. Develops and implements policies and procedures related to all areas of supervision. Plans improvements in work processes and personnel functions.  Assists in the preparation of annual budget requests and monitors expenditures against allocated budget funds.  Promotes the University Health guest relations policy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE            

An Associates Degree or Bachelor’s degree from an approved program for Health Information Management, business, Health Care Administration or related field required. Three years experience managing/supervising medical records in a multi-specialty setting preferred.  Current credentials as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required.  Expert knowledge of regulatory agency record of care guidelines is necessary, familiarity with health information disclosure/exchange regulation and Patient portal processes is required. An equivalent combination of education requirements and experience may be considered for a highly experienced candidate not holding a credential.  Expert knowledge of medical record processes and systems are required. Individual must possess a strong background in medical record management practices.  Must demonstrate the ability to organize people, events, and workloads.  Experience with and knowledge of computer systems is preferred.  Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
