Sr. Health Information Management Specialist

Missouri Baptist, Sullivan is seeking a Sr. Health Information Management Specialist to join our team on site! This individual will be picking up charts from units, and shipping them to other sites. They will also compile charts for insurance audit requests through EPIC and assist with making copies of patient records for patients as needed. Ideal applicants will have experience within the healthcare field. Schedule: 8 am-4:30 pm M-F

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose: The Senior Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist advocates, upholds and ensures that documentation standards are met. This position maintains an understanding of medical staff by-laws, accreditation entities, and state & federal regulations and how they influence the documentation practices & standards of healthcare organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete process and standard work auditing and targeted focus studies supporting functional managers to drive best practices and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Represents the official record of care on behalf of BJC regarding legal requirements (ie. depositions, subpoenas, court appearance and affidavits).
  • Performs and oversees the regulatory audit process (ie. CMS - RAC and non-RAC, TJC, State) to ensure timely and compliant responses.
  • Provides ongoing feedback and collaborates on Action Plans to improve processes and to address non-compliant findings.
