Job description

Business Information Consultant

Location: Ideal candidates will be able to report to our Pulse Point location at 5800 Northampton Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502.

This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace.

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

The Business Information Consultant develops and maintains reporting databases and ETL solutions, creates operational and financial reports and KPI dashboards, supports data warehouse architecture and code deployments, and provides technical leadership and mentorship.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Develop database objects including Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, and Tables to support operational and financial reporting.
  • Facilitate automation of manual reporting processes by developing ETL packages and deploying them to production.
  • Analyze multiple data sources to identify opportunities for end-to-end reporting solutions.
  • Support and maintain the integrity of the reporting database using industry-standard development practices.
  • Participate in peer reviews for code deployments, quality assurance, and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop financial and operational KPI dashboards and visualizations using Tableau.
  • Mentor and train junior associates on databases and applications that support business needs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on complex data warehouse architecture and create mapping documents for developers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Informatics, Data Science, or a related field of study.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a related occupation.

Experience Requirements:

  • Five (5) years of experience with SQL Server Database programming (TSQL);
  • Three (3) years of experience with reporting tools including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau, and Power BI;
  • Two (2) years of experience with ETL tools including SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Informatica;
  • Two (2) years of experience with job schedulers including Tidal, Control-M, and SQL Agent;
  • Two (2) years of experience with source control tools including Subversion, Bitbucket, and Team Foundation Server (TFS);
  • Four (4) years of experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) deployments using Agile methodologies including Scrum, DevOps, and Kanban;
  • Two (2) years of experience with workflow automation platforms including JIRA and ServiceNow.
