The Data Architect –designs, builds, and governs data frameworks supporting productivity, labor, and volume analytics. The architect ensures that staffing metrics and volume data are accurate, standardized, and accessible across all service lines. A Brief Overview The Data Architect –designs, builds, and governs data frameworks supporting productivity, labor, and volume analytics. This role serves as the strategic bridge between clinical, operational, and financial source systems—including Epic, Workday, UKG, and Strata. The architect ensures that staffing metrics and volume data are accurate, standardized, and accessible across all service lines. This individual partners with Finance, Decision Support, HR/Payroll, and leadership to eliminate manual reporting burdens through automated pipelines. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will doData Architecture & Systems Integration
  • Design enterprise data architecture connecting Epic, Workday, UKG, Strata, and relevant productivity systems.
  • Develop automated data flows sourcing volumes from Epic, labor from UKG, and budgets from Workday.
  • Integrate decision-support platforms like Strata to enable granular, service-line-level statistical reporting.
  • Build scalable data models, mappings, and definitions for weighted statistics and IP/OP designations.
Productivity & Statistics Reporting
  • Automate calculation cycles for department productivity statistics to completely replace ad hoc spreadsheets.
  • Standardize system-wide definitions for weighted versus unweighted operational output statistics.
  • Translate complex requirements from Decision Support and Finance into sustainable, long-term technical solutions.
  • Support recurring cycles (daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly) with highly validated, low-latency data feeds.
Governance, Quality & Documentation
  • Establish governance standards and source-of-truth designations for volume, labor, and weighted output.
  • Perform data quality audits and routine reconciliation across systems to proactively resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain clear documentation including active data dictionaries, ETL/ELT logic charts, and mapping tables.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
  • Act as technical advisor in CFO, Finance, and Decision Support strategy meetings.
  • Partner with financial analysts to uncover reporting pain points and eliminate low-value manual work.
  • Provide strategic guidance to IT, HRIS, and Finance teams regarding downstream configuration changes.
  • Collaborates daily with Finance, Decision Support, HRIS/Payroll, IT, and clinical operational leaders.
  • Participates regularly in recurring finance governance forums and CFO bi-weekly reporting discussions.

  • - Bachelor's Degree Computer sciences

Experience Qualifications Required
  • - Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data architecture/engineering, with at least two (2) years strictly in healthcare systems

  • Systems Thinking: Ability to map out how complex data streams from Epic, Workday, UKG, and Strata interrelate.
  • Automation Bias: Intense focus on efficiency to reduce manual tracking and spreadsheet dependency.
  • Communication: Ability to translate highly technical data layers into business-friendly terms for executive leadership.
  • Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of healthcare productivity concepts, weighted statistics, and IP/OP designations.
  • Direct experience implementing or supporting Strata Decision Technology systems.
  • Proven background leading cross-functional data governance initiatives in a matrixed health system.
  • Hands-on experience with Epic (clinical), Workday (finance/HR), and UKG (labor)

Physical Demands

The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work. The Associate is subject to call back at all times. The Associate may be required to travel occasionally to MLH facilities or other locations as needed.
