Summary
Delivers psychiatric treatment, allowing integration of the mind and body with each person's social and environmental needs, in order to restore the patient to emotional/mental health.
Job Duties
  • Identifies and reports potential problem areas regarding therapeutic environment to the Program Director.
  • Assesses patient as appropriate to the ages of the population being served.
  • Assists Social Work staff in the completion of Bio-Psycho-Social Assessments, Crisis Plans, and in Discharge Planning.
  • Identifies and communicates significant issues, progress, and dynamics to staff, treatment team, and physicians.
  • Manages emergency situations such as codes and unexpected/unusual incidents.
  • Participates in process improvement program that emphasizes continuous quality successes.
  • Participates in program development activities.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, or evaluation of the patient's plan of care.
  • Provides individual, group, and family counseling.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or related field.
  • At Minimum experience in a college practicum in a clinical area is required and
  • 1 year experience in a clinical environment.
  • Knowledge of mental health counseling techniques, treatment modalities, procedures, and practices.

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
