Base Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 annually

Location: Florida Department of Health in Seminole County, 400 W. Airport Blvd, Sanford, FL 32773

This position will be responsible for day-to-day supervisory activities in the DOH-Seminole clinic. The clinic is responsible for administering DOH-Seminole's Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) and HIV programs, School Physicals, and Immunizations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Under the direction of the Executive Community Health Nursing Director, this position spends most of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities.
• This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work.
• The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action.
• The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.
• The Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of all Clinic operations.
• Will also attend interagency meetings to collaborate in maximizing and improving service delivery to our target population.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for the clinic and complete Family Planning and HMS reports as directed.
• This position will conduct continuous quality improvement activities to ensure clinical measures are being met and assess and respond to budgetary needs.
• Quality improvement initiatives may exam outcomes in the Title X/family Planning Program, Immunizations Program, requirements.
• The SCHNS will assist and fill in as a nurse in the DOH-Seminole clinic as needed or as directed by the DOH-Seminole Executive Community Health Nursing Director.
• Communicate work expectations and measurements of duties performed to staff reporting directly to this position.
• The SCHNS will motivate staff to improve the quality and quantity of work performed.
• They will advise and counsel staff regarding work performance and professional growth and addresses performance problems through corrective action and progressive disciplinary actions as warranted.
• The SCHNS will document performance consistent with DOH policies and procedures and keep written records of performance problems.
• They will also monitor all lab requirements and responsible staff.
• Reviews and approves leave and attendance records.
• Approves requests for annual (vacation time), sick, compensatory time, over time, administrative, leave with and/or without pay time and flexible work schedules.
• Ensures and holds staff accountable for the appropriate use of applicable time.
• Ensures adherence to State procedures, HIPPA guidelines, protects the rights and confidentiality of clients, and maintains the integrity of the agency and the client.
• Reviews and communicates DOH policies, protocols, and procedures relating to information security, and confidentiality.
• Plan one-on-one staff meetings, conference attendance (when applicable), continuing education opportunities, and trainings and in-services.
• This position will also work with relevant staff to assist with orientation for new employees.
• They will participate in outreach events throughout the year to promote DOH-Seminole services and perform other related duties assigned to support the mission of the Florida Department of Health.
• Assist with nursing oversight during public health emergencies and participate in shelter training for DOH-Seminole employees with Region 5 Special Needs Consultant and the DOH-Seminole Public Health Preparedness coordinator.
• Assists with organization of yearly shelter walk through visits to SpNS schools and assist the Executive Community Health Nursing Director with ensuring the readiness of medication supply for Special Needs

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of interviewing; data collection and analysis principles and procedures.
• Knowledge of advanced nursing principles including health assessment, physical exam, and medication prescription.
• Ability to prepare reports, understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to TB, Refugee Health and other programs as assigned.
• Ability to understand and follow legislative policy direction as established in Federal and Florida Statutes.
• Ability to provide customer service in a tactful and courteous manner; work independently, plan, organize and coordinate work assignments, communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Skilled in critical thinking and problem solving techniques; computer skills including word processing, data entry and sending and reviewing emails.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited higher education institution.
• Knowledge of and skill in using Health Management System (HMS) and the Florida State Health Online Tracking System (FL SHOTS).
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
