Job description

Heads Up Technologies is a leading manufacturer of high precision aviation products and innovative solutions for the aerospace industry. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of prototype and production units across the Innovative Advantage product portfolio. This hands on role spans concept development, detailed electrical design, manufacturing release, and product support while providing technical leadership on complex multidisciplinary projects.

Work Days and Hours: Full time, onsite position.

Location: Kirkland, Washington.

Department: Electrical Engineering.

Reports To: Electrical Engineering Lead.

Position Type: Full time.

Work Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Citizen.

What you'll do
  • Design and Implementation
    • Own detailed electrical design activities, including analog and digital circuit design.
    • Perform schematic capture to produce robust, reliable, and manufacturable designs.
    • Plan and execute design verification and validation activities, including board bring up, troubleshooting, and performance characterization.
    • Create, maintain, and review technical documentation throughout the design lifecycle.
    • Serve as the electrical lead for assigned projects, following department processes and standards while ensuring designs meet internal, customer, functional, quality, and schedule requirements.
    • Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and FPGA engineers to develop integrated, multidisciplinary solutions.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement
    • Identify, research, and implement engineering design improvements that enhance manufacturability, reliability, and robustness in collaboration with the sustaining engineering team.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 10 years of electrical design experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong background in analog and digital circuit design, including microcontrollers, processors, and DSP based systems.
  • Experience with Altium or a similar PCB design toolset. Proficiency with Altium is required.
  • Experience with Ethernet and networking hardware and common communication interfaces, including SPI, I2C, UART, and similar protocols.
  • Proficiency with hardware diagnostic and test equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, function generators, and related tools.
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply functional and technical specifications, datasheets, hardware manuals, and other technical documentation to electrical designs.
