The Global Head Trading Gasoline Blend Components & Naphtha oversees the company's trading book for this portfolio. This senior leader ensures disciplined risk management, market leadership, and value creation through innovative trading strategies. They will serve as the company's senior representative to external counterparties and drives alignment between trading activities and corporate objectives.
A Day in the Life
  • Serve as a key senior architect and partner in the design of LYB's future state of Integrated Supply, Trading and Asset Optimization model.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of traders, ensuring consistent execution of trading strategies across commodities and regions. Lead cross-functional teams such as commercial operations and analytics.
  • Oversee a broad portfolio of the company's liquids production, balancing risk and return while optimizing portfolio performance. Products will include naphtha, alkylate, raffinate, MTBE, ETBE, pygas, aromatic gasoline components, benzene, and natural gasoline.
  • Ensure all transactions between traders and company assets flow seamlessly through Supply Coordinators.
  • Guide traders in negotiating complex commercial agreements with refiners, petrochemical companies, trade houses, marketers, banks, and end users to leverage the company's natural positions and improve commercial integration across the portfolio.
  • Oversee the creation and deployment of proprietary trading models and custom forward pricing curves.
  • Drive value-added strategies such as arbitrage, blending, storage plays, and niche customer access.
  • Build out a comprehensive system of blend netbacks for each product in the portfolio and related products in the market to enable accurate valuation of gasoline blending components globally.
  • Manage price risk exposure across the global trading portfolio.
  • Monitor and optimize market liquidity, contract optionality, and price elasticity.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for commodities and markets, offering strategic insights to senior leadership.
  • Manage emerging market opportunities and competitive threats in partnership with business development, ensuring proactive responses.

You Bring This Value
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in commodity trading, portfolio management, or related commercial leadership roles.
  • Passion for developing people, with the ability to coach team and influence learning and growth across the broader organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or related field
  • Demonstrated success in leading global cross-functional trading teams and managing large-scale, global portfolios.
  • Track record of innovation in trading strategies and risk management.
  • Deep expertise in market insight, price discovery, and portfolio management with specific focus on Atlantic basin gasoline component trading and the naphtha / suboctane markets.
  • Proven ability to design and execute value strategies (hedging, arbitrage, blending, storage optimization).
  • Exceptional negotiation and sales skills with a track record of closing high-value agreements.
  • Strong risk appetite and decision-making ability under uncertainty.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements across global markets.
  • Strong experience in trading and supply integration.
