A Day in the Life as a Preschool Lead Teacher:

As the Head Start Lead Teacher, you'll play an essential role in providing all aspects of a quality child development program with emphasis on the cognitive, social and emotional development of preschool-aged children. Your day will involve:

  • Provides quality educational experiences for preschool-aged children by planning and preparing daily and weekly program experiences while considering the needs of children.
  • Engages in adult-child interactions that are responsive, supportive, and respectful of children's needs, development, and play interests.ย 
  • Establishes consistent classroom routines and activities.ย 
  • Designs and maintains a warm and nurturing classroom environment which meets the standards expressed in National Association for the Education of Young Children and NH Child Care Licensing regulations.ย

Requirements

Qualifications to Be a Preschool Lead Teacher:

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • Education: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education; or Associates Degree in a related field with ECE coursework, including Child Growth and Development
  • Experience: Previous experience working in an early childhood classroomย 
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with young children and their families and ability to relate comfortably to income-eligible families.
  • Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience. Must be 21 years of age.
  • Technical: successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid certification

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations.
