180 day working calendar
5.0 hours a day
7:45am-1:15pm
Location: Bell Elementary Preschool (located within the Juanita Learning Community)
 




Hourly Salary: $27.71 (SC11SEIU26-27.pdf) Position is eligible for membership in the Lake Washington Service Employees International Union (SEIU).


 This position is posted in accordance with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Collective Bargaining Agreement transfer process outlined in Section 15.9 The position will be posted internally for five (5) workdays. The internal posting will close on Thursday, August 6th, 2026.
Interested employees must submit an Internal Application. To be eligible for transfer, employees must meet the posted qualifications and have been in their current position for at least six (6) months. Qualified applicants will be contacted directly.
If no internal candidates are selected for transfer, the position will be posted for one (1) week to consider both internal and external applicants.


Job Summary:

The job of the Head Start Assistant Preschool Teacher is for the purpose of assisting the Head Start Teacher in providing a quality, comprehensive early childhood education experience as well as select health services to preschool children and their families; and encouraging parental involvement in educational planning, goal setting and center activities. They are directly responsible to the district and/or building administrator for the assistance of the daily preschool classroom program as well as compliance with all PSESD/Head Start requirements. 
 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree (AA) or higher OR Two years of study equivalent to 72 quarter credits OR, Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 461 or higher 


Additional Head Start related requirements: CDA, ECE certificate, OR AA/BA/MA in any field and 25 ECE credits Initial health examination, including screening for TB First Aid and Infant/Child CPR card within 90 days of hiring and keep current Complete Criminal History declaration form and fingerprinting Obtain a Food Handler's permit within 90 days of hire and keep current. Must have access to a personal vehicle with insurance coverage (unless employer supplies vehicle) and have a valid driver's license.
