Job Description Summary

Dauch is looking for a Head of Quality - US & Brazil to join our team in Detroit, MI. The Head of Quality is responsible for developing and executing quality assurance strategies for the US/Brazil Region, such as voice of customer satisfaction, process standardization, Shainin problem solving, quality/warranty analysis/resolution, scrap analysis, new program launch, and tracking mechanisms for Regional Plants quality performance vs targets. They will be the acting liaison between US/Brazil plants and corporate departments regarding quality/warranty issues and standards/processes.

Job Description:

  • Quality & Warranty

    • Manages critical customer escalations and drives cross functional teams to issue resolution and regain customer satisfaction.

    • Supports problem solving for customer complaints and coordinates communication with customers.

    • Tracks Regional plants quality performance and customer complaints.

    • Drives quality/warranty projects on top issues impacting customers and warranty metrics.

    • Defines strategies to improve and maintain customer scorecard performance.

  • Quality Tools

    • Supports advancement of quality system tools (CAR system, quality management system, cost of quality, Smart LPA, Gage calibration, etc.) used by regional plants and industry 4.0 initiatives.

    • Develops proactive initiatives focused on improving quality performance.

  • New Launches and APQP

    • Monitors and works on top open issues and APQP activities to ensure safe launch, program success, and no warranty spills.

  • Cost of Quality

    • Monitors plants and region performance on cost of quality categories.

    • Supports completion and tracking of open Shainin project in plants vs targets.

  • Plant support

    • Supports US/Brazil plants with onsite problem solving, Q4 readiness, read across and lessons learned sharing.

  • Standardization

    • Ensures implementation and compliance to defined process standards and best practices in the regional plants.

  • Audits

    • Manages and performs various audits in the US/Brazil plants such as product and process integrity audits (PPIA), control plan, LPA, preparation for Dauch Q4 Operating System audits, etc.)

  • Budget

    • Manages cost center financials to stay within budget.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the automotive industry.

  • Experience applying principles of Quality Systems IATF 16949 and AIAG quality tools.

  • Experience applying customer specific quality requirements for Automotive OEM's.

  • Experience conducting process conformance audits.

  • Ability to utilize the following tools: FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, GD&T and SPC.

  • Willingness and ability to travel 25-50% locally and internationally.
