Job Overview

The Head of Financial Planning is responsible for leading, scaling, and elevating the firm’s financial planning function as a core pillar of the client experience. This role ensures consistent, high‑quality financial planning delivery across the firm while enabling Advisors to confidently position and lead planning‑centric conversations that drive client engagement, trust, and growth.

This leader owns both how financial planning is delivered to clients and how Advisors are enabled to sell, position, and reinforce the planning experience. The Head of Financial Planning partners closely with Client Experience, Advantage Offerings, and Growth teams to deliver a unified, differentiated planning experience firm wide.

Primary Duties / Key Responsibilities
  • Define, implement, and maintain firmwide financial planning standards aligned with regulatory and fiduciary requirements
  • Ensure consistent adoption of planning standards across all offices through documented workflows, templates, and quality reviews
  • Establish and maintain transition standards for incoming Advisors, including clear planning software adoption milestones and support expectations
  • Partner with Client Experience leadership to fully integrate financial planning into the end‑to‑end client journey
  • Embed financial planning into each Advantage Offering to reinforce client understanding and engagement
  • Increase adoption and ongoing utilization of the firm’s preferred financial planning software
  • Monitor and improve planning delivery consistency, planning volume, and documented outcomes
  • Coach Advisors on positioning financial planning as a core value driver in client and prospect conversations
  • Improve Advisor proficiency related to planning competencies and planning‑led engagement
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert and escalation resource for complex planning scenarios
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the financial planning team
  • Contribute to firm‑wide strategy, innovation, and growth initiatives as a senior leader
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial planning, tax advisory, or a related role
  • Strong understanding of financial planning regulations and compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to coach, influence, and enable Advisors in a client‑facing environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
