Job description

Company Overview

Deepgram is the leading platform underpinning the emerging trillion-dollar Voice AI economy, providing real-time APIs for speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS), and building production-grade voice agents at scale. More than 200,000 developers and 1,300+ organizations build voice offerings that are โ€˜Powered by Deepgramโ€™, including Twilio, Cloudflare, Sierra, Decagon, Vapi, Daily, Cresta, Granola, and Jack in the Box. Deepgramโ€™s voice-native foundation models are accessed through cloud APIs or as self-hosted and on-premises software, with unmatched accuracy, low latency, and cost efficiency. Backed by a recent Series C led by leading global investors and strategic partners, Deepgram has processed over 50,000 years of audio and transcribed more than 1 trillion words. There is no organization in the world that understands voice better than Deepgram.

Company Operating Rhythm

At Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindsetโ€”AI use and comfort arenโ€™t optional, theyโ€™re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.

Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.

Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if youโ€™re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if youโ€™re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.

The Role

Deepgram has deep technical expertise, unique customer insights, and a distinct point of view. Too much of that thinking never makes it into the world in a consistent, thoughtful way.

This role will work to uncover those ideas and turn them into a steady body of high-quality work that reinforces Deepgramโ€™s narrative and gives people a reason to keep coming back to the company for insight.

Working closely with CEO, CMO, Head of Comms, and subject matter experts across the company, this person should build an editorial function that consistently turns Deepgramโ€™s thinking into compelling stories, executive writing, customer stories, explainers, and recurring editorial series.

The goal is to help establish Deepgram as one of the defining voices in voice AI by publishing work that people actively seek out because it is genuinely insightful and worth their time.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Build editorial strategy and a content calendar that ladder up to Deepgramโ€™s company narrative, key messages, and major moments.

  • Develop editorial themes around voice AI, enterprise AI, model development, customer impact, agents, and the future of human-AI interaction.

  • Mine stories across research, engineering, product, customers, GTM, and leadership; interview internal and external stakeholders to surface insights.

  • Write, edit, and produce core narrative materials, including executive posts, essays, customer stories, explainers, newsletters and launch support across formats and channels.

  • Create repeatable editorial franchises and formats that reinforce Deepgramโ€™s narrative over time.

  • Make Deepgramโ€™s technical, product, and customer stories more useful, more accessible, and more compelling.

  • Support major moments, including the fall event.

  • Partner with communications, product marketing, brand, design, video, and demand generation.

  • Build editorial processes that improve quality and consistency without making everything heavy.

What Youโ€™ll Bring
  • 8+ years in editorial, content, journalism, or a related field, with significant experience creating thoughtful content around complex technology.

  • A body of work that proves it: you can point to pieces that built a genuine point of view, not just filled a calendar.

  • Taste. You know what's actually interesting, what reads as credible, and how to make technical work feel relevant and compelling without flattening it into generic marketing.

  • Exceptional writing and editing range across formatsโ€”executive essays, customer stories, explainers, newslettersโ€”with a high bar for clarity, substance, and craft.

  • Proven ability to produce high-quality work on a demanding scheduleโ€”you can sustain a newsroom-style cadence without letting quality slip, and you see consistency as a way to build authority rather than a reason to settle.

  • The instincts of a reporter: you can interview researchers, engineers, product people, and customers, get to the heart of complex material, and surface the insight worth publishing.

  • The ability to make technical depth accessible without losing substance, so the work stays useful to sophisticated readers while remaining readable for everyone else.

  • A track record of building repeatable editorial formats and franchises that hold quality and consistency over time, not one-off hits.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a builder's mindsetโ€”you're energized by shaping an editorial function from the ground up, and can create lightweight processes that raise quality without making everything heavy.

  • A collaborative style, with experience partnering across communications, product marketing, brand, design, video, and demand gen, plus the relationship-building instinct to keep ideas surfacing from across the company.

  • Enough fluency in (or real curiosity about) technical subject matter to engage credibly with topics like model development, enterprise AI, and agents. You don't need to be an engineer, but curiosity here is non-negotiable.

Bonus points

  • A background in technology journalism or editorialโ€”covering startups, AI, infrastructure, developer tools, or enterprise tech (think TechCrunch, VentureBeat, or a strong independent newsletter).

  • Time on an in-house editorial team at a company that treats content as a product (Stripe, Notion, GitHub, and the like).

  • Experience shaping a company's voice as a founder, executive, or ghostwriter in a technically complex environment.

  • Experience at an editorial agency or studio (Animalz or similar) working across complex technical clients, and ready to own a function in-house.

Why Deepgram

You will shape how the company at the center of the voice AI economy shows up in the world. The work you make will be seen by hundreds of thousands of developers and the enterprises building the future of voice. The system you build will outlast any single campaign. If you want your fingerprints on a brand as it steps into a new era, this is the role.
