Head Guard

The City of Janesville, Wisconsin, encourages individuals from all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences to consider employment and serve the residents of "Wisconsin's Park Place". The Head Guard is responsible for assisting in the planning, promotion, development, coordination and supervision of aquatic facilities, programs, and staff.

Essential duties include assisting with the daily operation and supervision of aquatics facilities; supervising and training aquatics staff; ensuring proper discipline and emergency care; planning and organizing special events; communicating effectively with pool patrons, lifeguards, and supervisors; maintaining accurate and complete facility records; and familiarizing self with facility opening, admissions, closing procedures, and concessions operations.

Minimum education and prior experience include being 18 years of age or older, having prior aquatics experience, and supervisory experience preferred. Other qualifications include current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certification. Competencies include knowledge of water safety principles, daily operations, organizational and time management skills, exceptional communication skills, collaboration skills, and the ability to follow policies and work independently.

Supplemental information includes the use of equipment such as a rescue tube, pool vacuum, POS system, concessions equipment, first aid, and CPR/AED supplies. Working conditions involve occasional exposure to dirt, dust, and moisture, and the ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations. No benefits available for seasonal positions.
