Job description

Head of Content

Location: West Loop, Chicago, IL

Reports to: Founder & CEO

About the Role

We’re looking for a Head of Content to own the editorial direction and build the content operation behind Nicholas Crown’s fast-growing financial education ecosystem. With millions of followers across social platforms and more than 65,000 readers of the Crown Macro newsletter, the business already has significant reach, a proven audience, and a high volume of original ideas and research.

This is not a community manager or someone who simply schedules posts. We're looking for someone who has built an audience themselves or played a meaningful role growing a creator or brand. You understand why content works, not just how to publish it.

You have exceptional taste. You know what deserves to be posted, what should never see the light of day, how to package an idea, and when to publish it. You think in hooks, narratives, retention, pacing, visual hierarchy, thumbnails, captions, and distribution.

Initially, this is a senior individual contributor role. You'll work directly with the Founder to establish the content engine, then build the team around it. Over time, you'll hire and lead editors, videographers, designers, and other creative talent as the organization grows.

If you're looking to inherit an existing content machine, this isn't the role. If you're excited to build one, you'll have significant ownership and influence.

What You'll Do
  • Own the end-to-end content strategy across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and other visual-first platforms.
  • Build and manage the editorial calendar across short-form and long-form content.
  • Decide what gets published, what gets cut, and how every piece should be packaged.
  • Collaborate directly with the Founder to turn ideas into compelling content.
  • Develop hooks, titles, captions, publishing strategies, and content frameworks that maximize reach and engagement.
  • Guide video structure, pacing, graphics, text treatments, B-roll, thumbnails, and other creative decisions.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across every platform.
  • Analyze performance data and continuously refine the content strategy.
  • Work closely with Growth, Research, and other functions to ensure content supports broader business objectives.
  • Help identify, recruit, and eventually manage editors, videographers, designers, and other creative talent.
  • Establish scalable creative workflows as the content organization expands.
Who You Are
  • You've personally built a meaningful audience or helped grow one through hands-on content creation.
  • You have excellent instincts for what performs on social media and what doesn't.
  • You understand platform-specific nuances across Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
  • You think like an editor, a storyteller, and a strategist—not just an operator.
  • You have strong writing skills and know how to craft compelling hooks, captions, titles, and packaging.
  • You understand modern video editing, pacing, retention, and visual storytelling.
  • You have a high bar for quality and aren't afraid to say, "This isn't good enough."
  • You're comfortable making creative decisions with imperfect information and moving quickly.
  • You enjoy building systems and processes rather than simply maintaining existing ones.
  • Experience with X (Twitter) is a plus, but it is not the primary focus of this role
What Success Looks Like
  • Built a repeatable content operating system.
  • Increased audience growth and engagement across our primary platforms.
  • Established a consistent publishing cadence without sacrificing quality.
  • Hire and begun leading a world-class creative team.
  • Become the final editorial decision-maker for everything we publish.
Why This Role

This is an opportunity to build the content organization from the ground up inside an already established media business with millions of followers and significant reach. You'll have direct access to the Founder, meaningful creative ownership, and the ability to shape both the team and the brand for years to come.

Compensation

Competitive base salary, performance bonus, and profit participation tied to achieving ambitious company growth goals. We're looking for someone who wants to build something exceptional, and we believe the people who help create that success should share in it.
