Job description

Essential Functions
  • Assists the Middle School Coordinator in implementing scheme, techniques, and play standards as delegated by the Varsity Head Coach.
  • Instructs athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
  • Provides instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence.
  • Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community.
  • Supervises all practices, games, team trips, locker rooms, and all athletic facilities.
  • Keeps current on education with technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in general.
  • Assists Middle School Coordinator with uniform and equipment maintenance and inventory.
  • Works within the policies within the Athletic Department and school to address issues or concerns.
  • Updates the Middle School Coordinator frequently during the season about any issues, concerns, or highlights.
  • Performs special assignments and related duties as they apply to the football program.
  • Adheres to the Student Protection Policy (SPP) procedures and training.
  • Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the school.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills.
  • Preferred coaching experience in assigned sport.
  • CPR certified.
  • Serve as a Christian role model.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Works in an environment with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • Use close and distance vision.
  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
  • May stand for extended periods of time.
  • May work in an environment with loud sounds.
  • Works both indoors & outdoors in heat and cold weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written).
  • Ability to instruct and model desirable skills and attitude.

  • Ability to maintain a clear focus on a positive student athlete experience.
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and during school holiday closures.
  • Part-time temporary position for sport season with some pre-season requirements.
