Job description

Do you enjoy working with young children and want a flexible schedule? Pro Action's Head Start Classrooms, are seeking applicants for Classroom Substitutes at various locations throughout Steuben and Yates Counties to work as part of our team on an as-needed, on-call basis. Whether you work just a few hours a week or several, you will be an important part of our classroom team!

As a Classroom Substitute, you will have daily direct interaction with children and assist other classroom staff with implementing activities. You will assist with children's mealtimes and make sure the classroom is clean.

  • Opportunities- If you are interested in the possibility of moving into a part-time or full-time position with benefits, several of our permanent staff began their careers with us by substituting in our classrooms.
  • Flexibility- You do not have to be available full-time to be part of our team and you can be off during the Summer and most other School District breaks.
  • Making a Difference- As a valued member of the Head Start Team, your presence in the classroom can have a positive impact on children's preschool experience. You can be a caring, supportive presence for the children.
  • Learning New Skills- As a Classroom Substitute, you will gain valuable experience and training in the classroom while you work as part of a team with the Teaching Staff. You will learn methods for conducting classroom and group activities and about Head Start and New York State Child Care Regulations.
