Job description

Bistro Cook / Barista & Bartender — (on-site bistro) | Hours: 4:30 PM–10:00 PM, daily | Part‑time/Full‑time options

Summary: Single-person back-of-house and beverage role responsible for reheating and plating frozen/pre‑portioned menu items, preparing Starbucks‑style coffee and espresso beverages, and mixing basic cocktails and beer/wine service; maintaining cleanliness, inventory, and timely support of front‑of‑house/lobby area

We're looking for a bartender/cook with a positive attitude who can provide excellent customer service for our patrons to have a great time at our bar. You will be in charge of taking customer orders, mixing a variety of traditional and creative cocktails, making beer and wine recommendations, and keeping the bar area clean and sanitary at all times. This position requires an energetic person with excellent organizational skills and a customer-first attitude. 

Compensation:

$15 - $16 hourly


Responsibilities:
  • Reheat, finish, and plate frozen/pre‑portioned menu items per brand specs and portion controls.
  • Prepare Starbucks‑style coffee and espresso drinks (brew, espresso shots, steam milk, pour/latte art basics), operate espresso machine, brewer, and grinder.
  • Mix and serve basic cocktails, beers, and wine; follow responsible service policies and ID checks.
  • Operate and maintain small kitchen and beverage equipment (convection oven, microwave, griddle, fryer, espresso machine, blender, warming cabinets).
  • Follow food safety/HACCP and beverage sanitation: temperature logs, FIFO, cleaning groupware, and beverage lines.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, beverage station, and barware; nightly deep clean and close procedures.
  • Monitor and rotate frozen/dry goods and beverage inventory; receive deliveries and restock.
  • Cross‑support servers: expedite, run food/drinks, handle cash/point‑of‑sale transactions as needed.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report maintenance needs.

Shift Priorities (quick)

  • Pre‑shift: inspect station, preheat equipment, grind coffee, check milk/ingredients, and confirm frozen item counts.
  • Service: prioritize hot beverage and ticket times, reheat to temp, prepare espresso and cocktails accurately, plate/finish per spec, and ID checks.
  • Close: clean/sanitize espresso group head, steam wand, grinders, glassware, log temps/sales, restock for next shift.

Qualifications:
  • Displays impeccable time management and organizational skills
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers
  • Candidates must have completed high school or received similar certification (GED)
  • Must have a strong focus on putting the patron first with exceptional customer service experience
  • We prefer some experience working in the food service industry
  • Experience preparing espresso/Starbucks‑style beverages and basic cocktails; barista certification or prior coffee shop/bar experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and beverage service laws (ID checking, responsible service).
  • Able to stand, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks during a 5.5‑hour shift.
  • Reliable, punctual, team‑oriented, and able to work evenings, including weekends.
  • Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and ability to follow SOPs for recipes, portions, and beverage standards.

Preferred

  • Experience with hotel or branded food & beverage operations and POS systems.
  • Familiarity with Starbucks recipes and hotel cocktail menus.
