HAZMAT Customer Service Representative

Position: HAZMAT Customer Service Representative Type: Full-time Location: Fort Story, Virginia Beach, Virginia Travel: 0% **Contingent Upon Award** Position Summary: HAZMAT Customer Service Representative Level II supports LOGSUPPU-2 supply operations by managing warehouse inventory functions while providing dedicated support to the hazardous material (HAZMAT) program. This role ensures proper receipt, storage, handling, and issuance of standard and hazardous materials in compliance with Navy regulations. The position directly contributes to mission readiness by maintaining accountability and safe handling of critical equipment and hazardous materials. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all warehouse management tasks including receiving, stowage, and inventory control of materials
  • Maintain inventory control, replenishment, and issuance of Naval Special Warfare hazardous material (HAZMAT) line items
  • Provide customer service support for the HAZMAT program, including fulfilling requests and ensuring proper documentation
  • Ensure proper storage, compatibility, and handling of HAZMAT materials
  • Support procurement processes by providing required documentation for hazardous material requests
  • Manage and support disposal and disposition of hazardous materials in accordance with regulations
  • Research and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Conduct inspections and maintain HAZMAT storage areas in compliance with Navy standards
  • Maintain accurate inventory accountability in SWALIS/DPAS systems

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Must hold an active Secret Security Clearance
  • Minimum five (5) years of warehousing and inventory management experience within the Department of Defense (DoD)
  • Minimum one (1) year of HAZMAT management experience
  • Inventory systems such as SWALIS, Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS), or R-Supply
  • Material handling, receiving, storage, and distribution operations
  • Hazardous material storage, handling, and disposal procedures
  • Possession of a forklift operator license
  • Completion and ability to maintain HAZMAT training through Environmental Compliance Assessment, Training and Tracking System (ECATTS)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Must accurately input and manage data across systems
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain installation access

Physical Ability to:

  • Ability to operate a forklift and material handling equipment
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and HAZMAT items
  • Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive warehouse tasks
  • Ability to work in warehouse and HAZMAT-controlled environments

Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
