The Advanced Patient Monitoring Regulatory Affairs team is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Regulatory Affairs Specialist to support global product distribution and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. Job Title: Senior Product Stewardship Specialist
Location: Poland, Europe

About the Job
The Senior Product Stewardship Specialist is the business lead and primary point of contact for Reagent Hazard Communication. This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and works cross-functionally to plan, implement, and manage Product Stewardship activities, with a strong focus on Global SDS Authoring, Hazard Communication, and Dangerous Goods compliance. The position also provides guidance on activities involving Materials of Concern (MOC).

Key Responsibilities
Hazard Communication & SDS Management
  • Serve as the SDS Subject Matter Expert, responsible for the preparation, authoring, review, and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in compliance with global hazard communication regulations.
  • Manage regulatory compliance data and SAP reporting activities related to product stewardship.
  • Ensure new or updated product chemical information is gathered, reviewed, and recorded in appropriate systems to support compliance and reporting needs.

Regulatory Compliance & Product Stewardship
  • Liaise with the Global and Central Product Stewardship teams and regional partners to ensure ongoing compliance, change management, and support for new product development (e.g., regulatory list updates).
  • Review product ingredients and bills of materials against REACH SVHC obligations and other Materials of Concern (MOC), including support for "where-used" analyses.
  • Review and approve customer regulatory responses and SVHC/Article statements.
  • Review regulatory reporting data, including REACH Substance Volume Tracking (SVT), assess requirements for new products and suppliers, and act as the REACH SVT business point of contact for San Jose and San Diego.
  • Review data, determine uses, and organize testing (as needed) to support BDB REACH registration dossiers, including determination of material nature.
  • Facilitate BDB support and input for REACH Authorization dossier submissions as and when required.

Dangerous Goods & Cross-Functional Support
  • Perform or support Dangerous Goods classification and verification for road, air, and sea transport in accordance with ADR, IMDG, IATA, ICAO, and 49 CFR.
  • Provide hazard communication and Dangerous Goods expertise to R&D, Sustaining Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Support regulatory impact assessments related to changes in hazard communication or transport regulations.

Data Coordination & Training
  • Work with Waters sites worldwide on data coordination activities, including data migration, data collection, and data compilation projects.
  • Participate in regulatory training as required and proactively escalate regulatory compliance questions and issues to management.

Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Regulatory Affairs, Product Stewardship, or EH&S, with a strong focus on hazard communication.
  • Experience with key regulations in North America and Europe, including:
    • US OSHA 2012 Hazard Communication Standard
    • US OSHA 1994 Hazard Communication Standard
    • WHMIS
    • DSD/DPD
    • REACH
    • CLP
  • Knowledge of the UN GHS (Globally Harmonized System).
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for business purposes.

Skills & Competencies
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, manage ambiguity, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills; fast learner; detail-oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Proficient in personal computing tools, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and email applications.

Preferred / Desired Knowledge and Skills
  • Background in Medical Device Reagent design and/or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods transportation regulations, including IATA, DOT, and ADR.
  • Understanding of California Proposition 65 risk assessment and labeling requirements.
  • Knowledge of chemical and hazard communication regulations in Eastern Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Familiarity with U.S., state, and international chemical inventory lists.
  • Knowledge of U.S. and international chemical waste regulations.
  • Understanding of toxicology and ecotoxicology relevant to SDS authoring.
  • Experience with master data management in a manufacturing or biotech environment.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including advanced use of Excel, Access, or similar data management tools for data manipulation and transformation.
